My Mother has been a client of Dr Dutt for some 16 years, bringing numerous pets to him over the years as a loyal customer. Over the past two years particularly, the service has deteriorated greatly. My Mother had an 8 year-old cat who was losing weight and had persistent diarrhea. Dr Dutt was not able to find the cause of the problem, despite over $500 in services and labs, and the cat ended up continuing to lose weight and dying in misery, lethargic, lying under a chair with no effort to live on. Presently, I see my Mother taking her dog repeatedly to Dr Dutt for a diagnosis of mange and then, allergic dermatitis. She gave her dog the prescribed medication for mange, two rounds of it, to no avail. She took her dog to Dr Dutt in February, May, and June this year, spending over $750 in services and tests and there is no change. I can understand that cases can be complicated; however, the doctor is not even giving results to the tests my Mother has paid for and no guidance whatsoever for my Mother's dog's care after the most recent visit in June costing $369. My Mother has called Dr Dutt's office twice to get the results of the tests to no avail. I personally don't believe that a client should have to ask for results; the client should be given the results and also receive recommendations. And if no conclusive answers are gotten, then what next? Give up? No, additional recommendations should be make. To me, it looks like Dr Dutt is just taking in money and not providing a whole heck of a lot in service. Finally, today, I called my daughter, who is a Vet Tech in another state and asked for advice. My daughter called Dr Dutt's office to get the records of my Mother's dog's care. The records were not able to be emailed by Dr Dutt's office. They offered to fax the records, but my daughter's Vet Clinic does not receive faxes. The net result was that the full records could not be gotten readily. The office administrative staff offered to have the Vet talk to my daughter, but he was between patients and my daughter did not want to interfere with his patient care, so as the next best thing, the administrative staff read the results as best she could to my daughter; so they tried. However, what happened as part of this same phone conversation was reprehensible: The admin staff told my daughter (not knowing that she is my Mother's granddaughter), that my Mother never wants to do anything, the dog smells and other derogatory comments that were totally unprofessional and inappropriate when my Mother is being forced to look elsewhere for help. (Not sure how spending over $750 in a three-month period is "not doing anything".) (And note: The reason the dog smells is due to the skin condition for which my mother has been taking her dog to Dr Dutt for treatment, so this is factually and correctly a criticism of Dr Dutt's ineffective care. I was at the June visit with my Mother and saw firsthand what was going on, and additionally see the receipts in my Mother's files.)
In June, as part of the $369 services and labs on that visit alone, a fecal test was ordered. We have yet to get the results (nearly 3 months later). My Mother called Dr Dutt's office twice for the results, to no avail, so my Mother was forced to self-diagnosis and treat her dog, went to Tractor Supply, bought de-wormer and saw parasites being eliminated in her dog's stools. But this is only part of the problem, so my Mother is still seeking answers. So when she tries to get help elsewhere, Dr Dutt's staff degrades my Mother to them?! And attacks her personally, criticizing my Mother's old age?! My Mother has been such a loyal client and this is the thanks, with no help to her dog. I am so disappointed in this whole situation. It is treasonous and degrading. My Mother is changing vets.
Dr. Dutt saw my grandson's cat as an 'emergency', even though she was not a regular kitty patient of his! Thank you Dr. Dutt. My grandson loves his cat (he adopted her from AWSOM when he was working there).
