I have been taking my cats to Dr. I at Good Shepherd for over 12 years and he is an excellent Vet. He always gives you multiple options of treatments to pick from if he can, and he is honest about what he feels would be best. He is polite and professional. The staff is amazing too. I am very glad Good Shepherd is around to take care of my cats.

I’m new to the area and was looking for a reliable vet, so I decided to try Good Shepherd Animal Hospital. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst veterinary experiences I’ve had. I apologize for the lengthy review, but it might be worth the read if you are considering this practice. I brought my dog in for routine vaccines but also wanted a new issue checked out, likely allergies. From the start, the vet repeatedly talked over me trying to tell me he was a great vet before even asking about my dog! He didn’t seem interested in actually listening to what I was trying to explain. Before I could even get a word in, a tech came in and immediately grabbed his leg to draw blood without warning. I didn’t have the chance to explain that he has a history of anxiety with blood draws. Unsurprisingly, he became stressed and reacted. Instead of recognizing their rushed handling, I was met with looks as if it were my fault… The entire situation felt completely avoidable. There was no effort to build trust with my dog, no attempt to let him get comfortable, not even basic interaction like petting him. Everything was rushed and forceful, which only escalated his anxiety. I am more than willing to muzzle or assist when needed, but I wasn’t even given the opportunity to communicate that before things were already out of control. To make matters worse, the concern I originally brought up was brushed past until I brought it up again myself. At our follow-up visit for boosters, the experience was no better. The staff still seemed uneasy handling him, asked me to fully restrain him, and again showed little interest in listening or adjusting based on what I know about my own dog. Again, they did not even pet him. Odd behavior for a vet practice. I completely understand that not every dog is easy, and I am always willing to help. But veterinary staff should not approach unfamiliar animals in a rushed, forceful way and then act surprised when the dog becomes stressed. Communication, patience, and basic animal handling skills were seriously lacking here. I left feeling frustrated, unheard, and disappointed. I will not be returning.
