I called them to see about getting a prescription filled for NexGard. I was visiting the area with my dog. I took my dog to her veterinary in Anchorage Alaska and had a complete exam completed with travel certificate. The doctor wrote a prescription for the NexGard. Since we do not have fleas and ticks in Alaska this med is not carried in Alaska. I contacted PCVC to fill the prescription. When I called they told me to go to the online store and order it. I did that, five minutes later I get an email saying the order was canceled. I called PCVC again. They said send an email to them and they would send a link to send her prescription to ao they could fill the prescription. Never got an email from PCVC with the link. Called them again and they said my dog would need to have an exam before they could fill the prescription. I stated she had an exam at her normal veterinary office that day and I had a travel certificate to verify. I was told I would get a call back to see if that would work. I reached a call back 5 days later. Saying they could not fill the prescription unless my dog was examined by them. I would have to schedule an appointment and become a client before they could fill a prescription. When I move back here this is the last place I will ever take my pets. Nothing but greed here.

The clinical staff is great, and I always feel like the care is great. But the staff answering the phone always treats me like I’m bothering them, there’s always a weird tension and attitude. I don’t call a lot, I pay my bill every time, and I try to be nice. I don’t usually do reviews, but this is an issue to be aware of. I’ve been using them for 4 years and it’s a consistent experience. Edit: I have called them since, and stopped by the office and they have been very helpful and nice, will be changing to five stars.

“Emergency appointments” are not what you think. My dog had to get an emergency surgery two months ago for a pyometra. Everything was going good until last night when I noticed blood in her pee and then this morning when I came home from work she had started puking blood so I called them for an “emergency” appointment and they said yes we have an emergency spot open at 9:30 but it’s gonna cost extra so I said that’s not an issue. Once I get there They put us in a room a little before 9:30 and it wasn’t until after 10 someone came in because I had to go get them because my dog started bleeding on the floor. She says well I don’t know when the doctor will be able to come in here. They have a full schedule and I get that but why say you have an emergency spot open when you clearly don’t. How you just gonna let a dog sit there for over 30 min bleeding on the floor amd still not send the doctor in so I walked out and I will not be back. By the end it was 3 hours because of the drive, 3 hours wasted just driving around/sitting in a room with my dog bleeding internally. Thank god for the actually emergency place in Dubois. I’ve never even been there before and they took me in and I didn’t even wait in the waiting room for 5 min. Weird how triage works
