I took my puppy to Bridgeport Veterinary Office to have a small mass on his foot evaluated, and the entire experience felt unethical from the beginning. They told me they needed to take a routine sample and brought him to the back. About 15 minutes later, they came out claiming they couldn’t get it and immediately jumped to pushing sedation and trying to lock me into a surgical time slot. There was no real discussion at this time just pressure to book. When I started asking basic questions, the story kept changing depending on who I spoke to. Multiple staff members gave conflicting explanations and started throwing out dramatic claims about my puppy “hurting himself” and “thrashing,” which is completely false. I’ve owned this dog for a year and he has never behaved that way. It felt like they were trying to scare me into agreeing to their treatment. Additionally the doctor did not come back out but instead had multiple techs and office personnel answer my questions. At one point I had 4 different associates talking over me and throwing information at the same time. The entire situation was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. The estimate they provided was nearly four times higher than what was initially discussed, which only reinforced my suspicion that this was more about revenue than care. I chose to cancel and get a second opinion, and despite not moving forward, they still charged me a surgery block fee for late cancellation despite booking it for the day after visit. On top of that, I had already declined blood work during the visit, yet it later showed up in the quote as “required” for sedation. This is not even common practice for human care. They were also proposing sedation just to observe the mass, and then a second round of sedation again for removal, which felt excessive for a healthy puppy. At another reputable vet, I was told the whole situation was unnecessary. The mass is common in puppies and typically resolves on its own without invasive treatment. No sedation. No surgery. This place has serious issues with communication, transparency, and trust. Staff avoid direct answers, can’t seem to stay consistent, and rely on pressure tactics instead of clear medical reasoning. I’ve left every visit here questioning their ethics, and this experience confirmed it. I would not trust this office with your pet. If you do go, be extremely cautious, ask detailed questions, and don’t let them rush you into expensive procedures you don’t fully understand.

They have been my preferred veterinarian for years!! They have taken care of my four legged family members pretty much since they opened, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. They have the most caring, patient, and understanding staff you’ll find anywhere for any business.

Bridgeport Vet was so helpful, I was able to call them and have my cat get the necessary treatment done within the same day. Dr. McLahan did an excellent job completing and explaining the procedure, and I was able to come to them with my many follow up questions. They've been nothing but the best with care, explaining medications, and following up to make sure my cat is doing well!

We've been Bringing our senior dog her for laser therapy to help with her arthritis , and the results have been a game - changer. It's non-invasive , painless and she seems to enjoy the treatments with Wendy. The staff is so caring & gentle with her.
