They only get a one because I can not give them a Zero: I know its long but you should read before you take your dog to these QUACKS!!!! I dropped my dog off at the Somerset County Veterinary Hospital on Tuesday August 22, 2023, around 9:30 am. We weighed her in she was 61 pounds. Went into exam room. I showed them the cut in her mouth as best I could. They stated they would not be able to do anything till noon. They said she had to have a rabies shot, and a panel of blood work. The Vet called around 2pm and said all went well. The cut in Boos mouth was not big enough for a stitch so all they did was use tissue glue to hold it together (I quote the vet “I hope it holds”) and we cleaned some of her teeth. We will send home pain pills and antibiotics. I arrived at the vet at 4:30 to pick up Boo and I could hear her yipping. After about 15 minutes a secretary goes back to get Boo 5 minutes later another secretary asks if she needs help she says yes. Another 10 minutes and they come to the door to the lobby. The have Boos’ harness and leash on her one secretary holding harness and the other secretary has a blanket under Boo’s hind end. I said she can’t walk. I lift Boo into car, and we head home mind you boo is yipping the whole time and unable to hold her head up. When this goes on for many hours. I call the vet office back they have a message that says in emergency to call AVIT Vet in Monroeville I call them and explain to them what was going on brought her home from Vet after a minor procedure and that she is yipping cant hold her head up, nor close her eyes, nor close her mouth. They state she should be seen but they are at capacity. So, I called the Laurel Highland back and chose the option for emergency for large farm animals. I explained to him the situation at hand and to have a vet call me ASAP. He said IF they call me, they will call on a restricted line. About ½ hour or so I got a call from a restricted number, it was the vet on call. I cannot remember her name. I explained to her what was going on. She said she remembered Boo but was not the one who preformed the procedure. Mind you she can hear her yipping in the background. I asked, “is this normal”, she answers and says “No usually animals come out of it after a few hours. She ask why I did not take her back to the vet today. I picked Boo up at 4:30. Your office closes at 6PM. I was told this would wear off because some animals have a hard time when coming out of anesthetic. She said that the secretary and vet techs should have had someone check her if she was unable to walk out on her own, that this is not normal. She could not do anything for me tonight, she was the only one on call and did not have a vet tech to help. But a Vet tech comes in at 7am and she will call back then. About a ½ hour our so later I get a call from a restricted number it is the vet again. She said she has been thinking and that I should give Boo some Benadryl to calm her enough so she quiets down so we can get some sleep. I said she is going to die she is dying she needs help. She says and I quote she is 75 lbs right I said no she weighed in at 61 lbs. Well, none the less I should give her start by giving her 2 Benadryl and if that does not quiet her give her another. That she would call me at 7am. And they would start her on steroids. I gave Boo 2 Benadryl, and she was still yipping but not as loudly. I do Boo was fighting for her life the whole time and no one wanted to help or cared to help. An hour or two later I check Boo and she is Dead. This was neglect of the Veterinarian office. Boo should never have been released from the office. And when I called, they should have had me bring her back and started steroid care right away.
